We had a special program about patent case against GNOME with Matt Berkowitz, IP Litigation Partner at Shearman & Sterling LLP and Neil McGovern, Executive Director of GNOME Foundation. I think the case is excellent educational material if you want to learn how open source community feels about and reacts against patent litigation, especially somewhat baseless claim for them. Open source community unites more when they face patent threat. So, it can be said that the plaintiff in the case made some mistake about whom to sue. We listened to various opinions about the case and patent in software in general. Almost all probably agreed that patent quality is important. Thanks Matt and Neil!
