Tailoring Your Communications to Fit Your Audience

The CHIZAI Toastmasters Club welcomed Ken Sakurayabashi, counsel at Nishimura & Asahi, for a short lecture and subsequent discussion on the theme, “Tailoring Your Communications to Fit Your Audience.” He shared various communication tips, drawing not only from his own courtroom experience but also from observing the communication styles of his fellow prosecutors and attorneys. While some advice was general—such as the importance of deeply understanding one's audience—I personally felt that the key takeaway was the need to observe and learn from various communication styles, adopt the useful elements, and ultimately establish one's own style.

知財トーストマスターズクラブでは、西村あさひ法律事務所の桜林先生をお招きし、「聴衆に合わせてコミュニケーションを調整する」をテーマに短い講演とディスカッションを行いました。桜林先生は、ご自身の法廷経験だけでなく、同僚の検察官や弁護士の法廷でのコミュニケーションスタイルを例に挙げながら、さまざまなコツを共有してくださいました。聴衆を深く理解することといった一般的なアドバイスもありましたが、個人的に最も重要な学びだと感じたのは、多様なコミュニケーションスタイルを観察して学び、参考になる要素を取り入れて、最終的に自分自身のスタイルを確立することの重要性でした。
